Bio

​Jonathan Corbie is a media composer hailed for his musical sensibilities and versatility. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago,  Jonathan's love of music was inspired by his parents Ken (guitar) and Christine (piano), and the rich musical culture in the isles.  His early compositional studies, included classical, jazz, latin and calypso music.

He began performing at the tender age of 7, participating in calypso solo competitions at his local primary school and subsequently joining his primary school and secondary school choirs. 
In 2013, he toured in London, England, as part of his secondary school choir. With this group, he performed for the president of his home country, the opening of the South National Academy for the Performing Arts, and took on various musical theatre roles, including Marcellus in The Music Man and Boatswain in the HMS Pinafore.

Jonathan moved to Los Angeles in 2018 to advance his film music studies and has since become a trailblazer in the field. Jonathan is the first Trinidadian composer to break out into the U.S. film market. His recent work can be heard in 
Tuttle Twins Animated Series (Add. Music) on Angel Studios, and his sound design has been featured in campaigns for blockbusters like Fast X, John Wick 4, Boy Kills World and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

His compositional style is a
vibrant synthesis of musical influences. He has a passion for film music and a sensitivity to the needs of the picture. His scores and soundscapes are characterized by sophisticated harmonies, strong themes and velvet ambients. He blends rich orchestration and dynamic colors, with a focus on enhancing the narrative. This energetic contributor remains eager to connect with new storytellers.

Jonathan holds a Master of Music in Composition with distinction from California State University Northridge (2024).  His latest concert compositions include La Diablese (2024) for flute, Daydreaming (2023) for clarinet, violin & cello, and the capstone piece of his Master's program, Engine Room Structures (2024) for Trinidadian rhythm section.

In his spare time, Jonathan can be found on the tennis court and enjoying time spent with family back home.
